Architectural witnesses of M.M. Bakhtin's life and work in Saransk

The article deals with the architectural environment and monuments of Saransk historical center, connected with the life and work of M.M. Bakhtin. It analyzes both the appearance of specific buildings which “remember” the scientist and the architectural ensembles of Mordovia's capital took shape in the middle of the 20th century. The ancient buildings survived the vicissitudes of the last century and newly built typical residential houses acquired in the third millennium the status of unique memorial objects, truthfully testifying to the life of the great thinker.
