The article focuses primarily on highlighting archival documents as the main source for studying the history of the Buryat Communist Youth Union. The article provides a brief description of archival documents reflecting the history of the Buryat regional organization of the Komsomol over the past hundred years. The sources preserved in the collections of the State Archive of the Republic of Buryatia depict various aspects of the formation, functioning, and dissolution of the republic’s Komsomol. Furthermore, these documents illustrate the contribution of the Komsomol organization to the economic, social, and cultural life of the Buryat ASSR. The author emphasizes that the Komsomol’s contribution as a public organization, along with the role of each individual member, was significant and multifaceted in the development of Buryatia during the Soviet period. This article is intended not only for researchers studying the history of the Komsomol but also for those interested in the development of youth movements in Russia.
