Canada's arctic policy: transforming approach to northern territories management

Canadian North, considering its economic and geographic characteristics, has always been treated by Canadian government as a unique strategic region. Nowadays, when the world faces climate changes and exhaustion of mineral resources, Canadian North could become a basis for economic development of the country. Understanding the importance of the North, Canadas Federal government has not only developed Northern Strategy - a program document which discloses four integrated priorities,- but has started its implementation. The article reveals transformation of Federal governments vision towards the place of the North in provincial and territorial relations and reviews goals, tasks and methods to implement Northern Strategy.
