Military articles of Peter I: general characteristics and historical significance

In this article, the author examines the first systematized military criminal code in Russia - Military Articles of 1715, and gives its general characteristics. Special attention is paid to the history of the origin of the named document, the great work done by the compilers with the direct participation of Peter I is noted. Further, the structure and content of the Military Articles are analyzed. The author comes to the conclusion that the document under study marked the creation of a developed criminal law in Russia. Despite borrowed norms in most cases, its content was adapted to Russian realities.
