Asymmetry of political and economical interests Russia and Germany towards East Baltic states

Relations between Russia and the Baltic States in the economic sphere today are at the higher level than the political dialogue. This state of affairs is not conducive to the promotion of regional interests of Russia. The necessity of searching new means to achieve the external political and economic goals is growing. The geo-economic analysis shows that the most important factor in the realization of Russian interests in the Baltic region may be the exploitation of the Baltic direction of German foreign policy. The aim of our study is to establish the correlation between German foreign policy doctrine in point of the Baltic States at the present stage and possibility of realization of Russian political, economic, social and humanitarian interests in the region.
