In modern conditions, the main way to maintain a high level of competitiveness and efficiency of economic systems is innovative development based on an active process of commercialization of the results of intellectual labor. In the world practice, the most progressive direction of stimulating the development of innovative activity is the formation of innovative ecosystems, which are a highly developed form of innovative systems that differ in the principles of functioning and the tools used. This process has been intensively considered by the scientific community over the past two decades at various levels of functioning of economic systems: macro -, meso-and micro-levels, but at present the issues of formation and functioning of innovative ecosystems at the meso-level, which are regional and sectoral components, are important. Digital transformation, affecting many areas of activity, has a significant impact on innovative systems. It creates tools to accelerate the formation of innovative ecosystems, which can include digital platforms. The current direction is the study of the process of applying digital technologies in innovation ecosystems. The paper provides a theoretical analysis of the categories “innovation ecosystem” and “digital platform”, which made it possible to identify features and points of contact, in particular, the digital platform can be used as a central element of the innovation ecosystem model, which will allow to obtain a multiple synergetic effect. A model of an innovative ecosystem has been developed on the example of one of the regions, which is based on a digital platform.
