The Chechen Republic has been the “headache” of the Russian center since Russia gained independence in 1991. The separatism of the Chechen leadership has caused almost a decade of hostilities, which have now ended. Until now, the Russian public does not know the whole truth about the most bloody conflict on the territory of the former USSR, and scientists and politicians cannot reach a common opinion on the causes and consequences of this terrible tragedy.
