Schizophrenia is a severe complex psychiatric disorder demonstrating a high heritability. The present brief review highlights the summary of the association studies suggested the different genetic polymorphisms of phosphatidylinositol-4-phosphate 5-kinase, type II, alpha (PIP5K2A) to be linked with schizophrenia. The PIP5K2A gene is the promising candidate susceptibility gene for schizophrenia and deserves further more detailed study.
