Atypical depression (literature review)

This review considers whole information about interrelationships of typical (melancholic) and atypical depressions. It includes historic data of discovery and development of concept of atypical depression. In addition, this article contains epidemiological data and tools for its measurement. In this review the author tries to show biological differences between typical and atypical depressions. It covers contemporary data about predictors, clinical presentation, and treatment, course of illness and prognosis of atypical depression in detail. This article analyses contemporary findings about grading of atypical depression and further development of concept of it.
