One of the creators of the atomic project was academician Anatoly Petrovich Aleksandrov (1903-1994), a brilliant scientist in the constellation of outstanding men of Russian science and technology. Under the direction of A.P.Aleksandrov atomic reactors of different types were developed and built. For 30 years he headed the largest Soviet scientific center - the Kurchatov Institute of Atomic Energy, and for 11 years he was the President of the Soviet Academy of Sciences. Unfortunately, A.P.Aleksandrov had not left memoirs which explains great significance of the materials dictated by him at different times (1978 - 1985) and prepared by his son Pyotr Anatolievich Aleksandrov, who is a professor, doctor of technical sciences. The article analyses some materials of the lecture given by P.A.Aleksandrov on 21 September 2007 at Samara Branch of FIAN named after S.V.Lebedev for the members of the Institute.
