Autofluorescence spectroscopy of normal and pathological bronchial epithelium

The results of investigation of laser-induced autofluorescence of normal and pathological bronchial mucosa after combined treatment of lung cancer are presented. The autofluorescence spectra were measured in vivo at 532 nm laser excitation from bronchial mucosa in the stump of operating bronchus and contralateral lung. The two spectral characteristics of laser-induced autofluorescence spectra of normal and pathological changed bronchial mucosa were analyzed and compared with results of morphological analysis. It was shown that autofluorescence detection of the early recurrent malignant lesions in the bronchial stump is possible 6 months after combined treatment.
