Article is devoted to the birth of the Avar Khaganate - the military-political alliance of the steppe’s nomads which terrorized Europe within VI-VII centuries. The author of article investigates an origin of Avars, he accepts E. Khelimsky’s hypothesis about the Tungusic-Manchu origin of the Avarian nobility. Also he analyzes the stages of the relations between the Avar Khaganate and the Byzantine Empire in 558-568 years.
