"Automatic compositions" as precursors to the use of cybernetics in music

Traditional art of music composition has always applied automation of processes of music creation and performance (in techniques of repetition, imitation-polyphonic counterpoint, functional-harmonic thinking), demonstrating mechanistic perception of music elements. The detailed study of features of creation and operation of "automatic composition"in music and prospects of its correlation with contemporary theories and research methods of natural sciences in musicology leads to the conclusion about automatic compositions as precursors of cybernetics in music. The article discusses these problems.
