The article examines the current energy policy of Japan, China and South Korea in the context of the global trend of reducing emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere. Renewable energy sources are an important part of the new energy policy in developed countries; however, states continue to use nuclear technologies to support their energy sector. Scientific novelty lies in identifying the prospects for the energy policy of three countries through analyzing the promising technological potential of the sector in the context of global transition. The authors conduct a comparative analysis of the states and the direction of their energy policy, paying a particular attention to the importance of developing energy plans and international cooperation to ensure the energy security of states.
