Бесплатный доступ

The article examines the features of banking crises on a global scale. It has been established that the banking crisis acts as an economic category, which by its nature can be both a manifestation and a catalyst of the financial and monetary crisis, can be combined with the crisis of other sectors of the economy, or be isolated without causing disruptions in the socio-economic life of the country. It is proved that the banking crisis is the inability of banks to perform functions within the framework of raising funds, providing loans, and making payments in the economy. It is only on the basis of the spread of the crisis not only to the entire banking system, but also to the financial and monetary systems, that the banking crisis can be recognized as systemic. The variety of causes and consequences made it possible to qualify the banking crisis as a complex multifactorial phenomenon that has a complex correlation with a fairly significant number of indicators characterizing the economic state of the state. Based on the study of international experience, a retrospective analysis of the causes and prerequisites of banking crises in different countries proved that crises are mainly preceded by a period of growth in bank loans. At the same time, the scale and frequency of complications faced by banking systems vary significantly.
