The presented article is part of a large project devoted to the study of rural tourism in the countries of the foreign East and related aspects. The purpose of the study is to consider the Bedouin village as a tourist destination, show its real state, prospects for use and draw the attention of Russian tourists to it. The article provides a critical analysis of the scientific literature available in Russia and abroad on the stated topic, shows gaps that need to be filled. The authors distinguish two types of Bedouin villages: the first are located directly in the desert and, due to the harsh living conditions, are of interest to extreme tourists, the period of stay in them is usually limited to three days. The second ones were constructed in the suburbs specifically for tourists interested in the life, living conditions and traditional cuisine of the Bedouins, i.e. designed for a wide target audience. They can be considered as tourist destinations. Data are given on the traditional Bedouin cuisine, which is of interest to tourists. The necessity of knowledge of the local mentality in order to avoid all sorts of conflicts is substantiated. Some stereotypes regarding the perception of the Arab East by our compatriots have been debunked. First of all, this is the conclusion that Egypt cannot be considered a country of exclusively "beach" tourism. The main scientific result: it is proved that in the conditions of the sanctions taken in the West against Russia, Russian tourists should pay attention to other, previously little-known tourist destinations, one of which is a Bedouin village.
