Refugees from the south-east of Ukraine: social adaptation

The article presents results of the research dealing with the phenomenon of refugees from the south-east of Ukraine that was carried out by the authors in 2015. One of the research objectives was to study social adaptation of impelled migrants and assessment of refugees' selfawareness as friends or foes in the territory of Russia. The article answers the question of how the local population regarded refugees from the south-east of Ukraine as friends or foes due to their mass arrival to Russia. The authors describe in detail the ways of social adaptation and the challenges refugees faced, consider who needs assistance in the process of social adaptation and the conditions of its effective implementation.
