The dystopian novel “Galapagos” by K. Vonnegut is analyzed in the context of biblical motives and mythology on various textual levels. The study includes such aspects as the author’s version of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse myth, combined with negative futuristic forecasts, ironic perversion of Noah’s ark and man’s creation stories. Christian symbols treated on the basis of postmodernist irony point out the fragility of our culture destroyed by consumerism and materialistic laws of chance and natural selection.
