The article analyzes the phenomenon of the problem of reading crisis in the works of well-known researchers, the concept of "reader's interest", "reader's fashion", a decrease in interest in reading, the specifics of reading traditional and electronic books in a pandemic. The author of the article examines the playful forms of attracting library users to reading - library quests and library quizzes. The author gives a generalized description and definitions of the concepts of library quests and library quizzes. The article is supported by data from VTsIOM. The author's experience in the implementation of library quests and library quizzes is presented on the example of the Kysyl-Syr library of the RS (Y)
