Bibliographic method in the study of biography based on the reconstruction of the personal library of Fyodor Vasilyevich Karzhavin

The article discusses the role and possibilities of the bibliographic method in studying the biographies of personal library owners. The publication "F.V. Karzhavin's Library: the Experience of Reconstruction" (Moscow, 2024), prepared under the auspices of the Institute of General History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, is analyzed. The bibliographic method has become the main scientific method of reconstructing the library of F.V. Karzhavin, making it possible to present the features of each copy. The purpose of the article is to demonstrate the potential of the bibliographic method in studying the biographies of personal library owners. The conclusion is drawn: the bibliographic method in research acts as a general scientific one, through its application, knowledge is increased, which, being included in scientific circulation, enriches a number of sciences. By explicating its capabilities to the real-life multitude of personal libraries of prominent people, we can propose an effective mechanism for studying the biographies of owners, and, consequently, for restoring many important pages of history.
