Bibliometric rates and patent activity in CIS countries and Georgia

The paper discusses the dynamics of the two scientometric rates of nine states, which have arisen on the site of the former USSR. The changes in number of scientific articles published by researchers of these countries in the second half of the 1990s and during the 2000s are analyzed. An average annual number of pa- tents registered by CIS and Georgia citizens are provided. The author considers the reasons, due to which the international statistics underestimates bibliometric and patent activity indicators of the former Soviet republics.
