The studies were conducted on sheep breeds: soviet merino, precoce and romanovskaya, on the farms of the Orel region. The sheep used in experiments were from 2 to 4 years old, with a live weight from 52 to 63 kg. Topographic search of the superficially localized biologically active centers (SLBAC) were carried out based on the method of A.M. Guskov, A.V. Mamaev (1996), device type ELAP examining the surface of the skin of a body of yeld ewe. The measurement of the bioelectric potential of the SLBAC was performed three times daily in the morning during three adjacent days. On the surface of the body of the sheep in different anatomical areas 80 SLBAC were identified for the first time. The greatest number of centers is observed in the chest (32), lumbar and abdominal (17) and sacral regions (16), which is determined by the presence of a large number of nerve plexuses and endings connecting skin with the spinal cord, which are represented by bundles of efferent and afferent fibers passing through localization of the SLBAC. When identifying the SLBAC on the sheep's body, significant fluctuations in the level of the bioelectric potential of the centers or levels of increased electrical resistivity of the skin in different anatomical zones were identified. It was found that the level of bioelectric activity of the centers is in the range from 39 to 72 µa and they have certain histological features. When analyzing the histological material, it was established that the SLBAC of sheep are located on the border of the transition of the dermis into the subcutaneous fatty tissue. SLBAC can be used to assess the functional state of the body of the sheep, study productive homeostasis, adjust the level of animal productivity.
