The article presents the biological and ecological features of the perennial root-suckering weed field thistle (Cursium arvense). Methods of reproduction, seed productivity and features of its vegetative reproduction. The reaction of the weed to its cutting by the working bodies of the cultivator. The effect of various methods of primary soil cultivation on the suppression of the perennial weed is shown. It was revealed that the most effective primary soil cultivation in suppressing the perennial weed is improved autumn plowing, which is 13.8% more effective than semi-fallow cultivation.
