In this article, the author atempts to evaluate the piety of Emperor Nicholas I not only from the standpoint of his personal life, but also from the standpoint of his policy decisions. As part of the analysis of the life of the Tsar-Martyr, the possibility of establishing additional objective criteria for the evaluation of the phenomenon of sanctity is explored. Te author also draws on material from the Emperor's hagiography. As a result, the author studies the extent to which the Emperor's life corresponds with the Beatitudes. Te results are published here for the first time.
