The immediate and long-term results of treatment for congenital clubfoot in children using the Ilizarov fixator

The results of treatment with the Ilizarov fixator were analyzed in 250 children at the age from 1,5 to 14. The fixator configuration was simplified. Stabilizing surgeries were performed in children of elder age and in those with tendency to recurrence. The long-term results studied in 150 patients were considered excellent – 76 (50,7%), good – 54 (36,0%) and fair - 20 (13,3%). There were no poor results in the long-term period.
