Blocking mechanisms of transformation of patriotism in nationalism as the condition of successful implementation of the national policy of contemporary Russia

One of the topical problems of implementing the state national policy of contemporary Russia is the problem of preventing the emergence and development of extremist and nationalistic sentiments in the youth environment. In the context of the aggravation of the geopolitical situation, the task of forming patriotic attitudes among the younger generation becomes a priority task on the agenda of modern society. However, the implementation of activities aimed at the solution of such a task can lead to the most unexpected consequences, among which the transformation of patriotic attitudes into nationalist beliefs and values should be emphasized. The article presents the results of many years of research by the authors on the problem. Based on the presented empirical materials, the authors come to the conclusion that the main condition for the successful implementation of the national policy of contemporary Russia is the development of ways to block the mechanisms for the transformation of patriotism into nationalism.
