Battle actives of the southern shore batteries in the defense of the Sevastopol (November, 1941)

In November defense of Sevastopol southern shore batteries №№ 35, 18, 19 and 14 of the Sevastopol Defense Region played a significant role in the implementation of the strategic and tactical objectives. On November 15, 1941 the territory of the 1st and 2nd COP sectors became the site of fierce fighting with the enemy. Important defensive significance was areas along the line of Balaklava Kuchuk Muskomya Varnutka Baidary Camara Bink-Muskomya. The mountainous nature of the terrain and altitude located here were natural barriers in the way of the German advance in the area between Balaclava and Varnutkoy. In the southernmost part of the COP along the front lines and on the waterfront was created relatively few fortifications, bunkers and pillboxes. Of course, the height of the mountains and were themselves obstacles to enemy troops, so the defense of the territory was much easier than in the northern part of the COP. Based on the analysis of a number of historical facts of archival documents can conclude the following. More often they took part in the battles batteries №№ 19, 18, 14. Their interaction has been particularly active in the second half of November to the end of the month. Battery although number 19 was the only frontline battery on the territory of the 1st sector, it maintained the battery number 18, later the battery number 14, further battery number 35.
