The Bulgarian background for Eurasianism: at the intersection of intellectual fates

In this review, the author analyzes the book of the Bulgarian scholar J. Lyutskanov Ranneye yevraziistvo i ego bolgarskiye sosedi. (Ne) Myslimost Drogogo (gikh) (Early Eurasianism and its Bulgarian Neighbors. Are Other Alternatives Tinkable?), dedicated to the topic of Bulgarians in the early writings of the Eurasianists of the 1920’s. Te author also looks at the responses to Eurasianism in Bulgaria and to other Bulgarian intellectuals with similar points of view. In addition to reviewing the book, the views of its author on the relationship between Eurasianism and Russian nationalism and Russian-Bulgarian relations are critiqued.
