E authorities and the population, which acquired particular relevance in the 1950-1960s. The fundamental changes that took place in the USSR and the CPSU served as a noticeable revitalization and democratization of socio-political life. With the use of archival documents and published sources (periodicals), some of which are being introduced into scientific circulation for the first time, using the example of Soviet Bashkiria, the author explores the changes in public sentiment within the specified chronological framework, identifying the reasons that had an important influence on their formation, the state of relations between the authorities and the population, people’s appeals to the authorities, the attitude of local authorities towards received petitions. An analytical review of the types and forms of citizens; appeals to government bodies at any level in the republic, which were of an economic, social, or political nature, common in these years is carried out. Particular attention is also paid to the practical use of periodicals by citizens. The changes that have taken place in the nature and content of citizens; appeals to the authorities and their expectations of the results of the measures taken by local authorities are shown. As a result of the study, the author identified the forms of relationships between authorities and the population, and highlighted their regional characteristics. This allowed the author to draw conclusions about the ongoing process of transformation of public sentiment in the republic during the period under review, the turning point in the attitude of citizens towards the authorities, and the policies pursued by the state and the party.
