The paper considered a sequence of events concerning militia combatting crime in the Altai province in the period from 1919 to 1925, According to the survey’ outcomes the author inferred that despite serious difficulties in equipment supply, shortage of weapons and a significant militia staff cut in 1921, complicated with the large quantities of weapons retained by the population, the Altai Province police employees took all measures affordable for preventing from criminal offenses in the Altai province. However, social class-targeted orientation in operation of law enforcement agencies fighting against «exploitative» classes were had diverted considerable force of militia from fighting against the hoods, and anti-religion campaigning held in the country''s provoked people to commit criminal acts against the Christian Orthodox Church and its servants.
