The paper analyzes the research into combating banditry in the Russian Far East in the 1920s, summarizes the scope of the study on this issue in Russian and international historiography, and generalizes the works of Far Eastern researchers. The authors conclude that several aspects of countering banditry and revolts in the 1920s are reflected in a number of publications. However, the fight of law enforcement agencies with political and criminal banditry having posed a serious threat to the population and impeded the economic recovery of the region has not been treated in much detail. Scientific analysis, critical approach, and further research on the subject matter are required to understand the historical experience of combating banditry as a specific form of organized crime.
