Fight against social diseases in Buryatia (1920s - 1940s)

In the article considered epidemics and social diseases in the 1920-40th on the example of the Republic of Buryatia. By the period of creation of the Buryat-Mongolian ASSR the republic was suffering under oppression of social diseases. It resulted in a high mortality among local population, especially childrens. The main objectives in the field of health care after сreation in 1923 the Buryat-Mongolian republic were a struggle against tuberculosis, smallpox, trachoma and other diseases, and construction of hospitals and medical aid stations in the countryside. Immediate and resolute actions for struggle against venereal and other social diseases in the republic were necessary and urgent. Considerable role played preventive maintenance, sanitary education and anti-epidemic measures. These actions allowed to reduce considerably social diseases, especially tuberculosis and to reduce quantity of infectious diseases, even in 1940s during the Great Patriotic War, in conditions of considerable cutting of expenditure on health care it was succeeded not to allow mass epidemic.
