Based on unpublished materials introduced into scientific circulation for the first time, the article reveals the inner life of the Moscow Sretensky Monastery in the 1830s-1850s. This period in the history of the monastery in Russian historiography has not yet become the object of scholarly research. Based on the analysis of a number of documents, the article examines the number and social composition of monastics. It is noted that from the beginning of the 1840s, when the staff of the monastery was increased from 7 to 14 people, at least 14, and sometimes even more, inhabitants lived in the monastery, which was quite a lot for a provincial third-class monastery. Specific examples show that among the brethren of the Sretensky Monastery, both zealous workers and people who had some problems with discipline worked and labored, which, however, was typical for any monastery in any era. The article deals with the financial situation of some of the members of the fraternity. Without a doubt, the study of the composition of the brethren and the daily life of the inhabitants of the Moscow Sretensky monastery is one of the most important and promising areas in the study of the history of this monastery.
