BRICS in the global monetary system

The article deals with the main financial and economic indicators of the BRICS countries in comparison with world leading countries. The discrepancy between the size of the common economy of the BRICS countries and the role of them in the main international financial organizations, in particular International Monetary Fund, is discovered. The article discusses a current status of regional financial space of BRICS and the steps for its development. Additional mechanisms of financial cooperation, similar to the mechanisms used by International Monetary Fund and international payment system CLS, are proposed.
