Buddhist king as an ideal ruler in conception of Shingon school

The article considers the image of king-chakravartin and the meaning of this image in philosophy of the esoteric Buddhist school Shingon of medieval Japan. As the author assumes, the representations concerning king-chakravartin in conception of Kukai (774-835), Shingon school founder, have had to play a special role in relations between Buddhist Sangha and Imperial court in medieval Japan.
