"Paper" aestetics of Moscow conceptualism

The article deals with metaphorical connotations of "paper" in Russian conceptualism. Aspects of perception of paper as material substance, as sphere of «the white», as a «message», whose meaning can vary considerably, are regarded in the article. Based upon the conceptualist theory paper is interpreted not only as a means of transmission, but also as a means of articulating sense. In the article manipulative, visual-graphic, metatextual aspects of paper in the conceptualist practice are analyzed in detail. In the article axiological inconsistency of paper in conceptualism, determined by totality of its presence and object texture, is revealed.
