Pulp and paper industry of Sakhalin region in the 1960's-1980's

Pulp and paper industry was a maj or sector of Sakhalin economy in the 1960s and 1980s, reached its peak during this period. The paper analyzes the factors that contributed to the development of the industry: the reconstruction of factories, the improvement of pulp and paper manufacturing processes, socialist competition, introduction of inventions and innovations, the establishment of creative teams, resource saving. At the same time, the author notes that the development of the sector hampered by insufficient pace of renovation of obsolete equipment, violation of technological mode of production, lack of automation and mechanization of production processes.
