The author attempts to consider such works as “And Quiet Flows the Don” by Mikhail Sholokhov, “Taras Bulba” by Nikolai Gogol, and “War and Peace” by Leo Tolstoy from two viewpoints: the identification of the signs of identity of protagonists and value components in these works. The significance of the study is determined by the need to apply a reasoned approach to a value component of the Russian culture. The relevance of the research is due to comprehend a value component from the perspective of continuity combining Russian and world society through the common values, which are represented in works of Russian writers recognized throughout the world. The novelty lies in the analysis of literary texts from the structural and axiological standpoints in order to reveal values which still determine the sustainability of Russian society. Such an approach is approved but rarely used by Russian cultural scientists.
