To estimate the incidence of cerebral vasospasm by endovascular interventions and its role in the occurrence of perioperative neurological disorders, 53 patients were examined, who underwent various types of endovascular interventions on the vessels of the brain: transluminal balloon angioplasty with stenting, selective embolization of the afferents and stroma's arterio-venous malformation by the adhesive composition, embolization of aneurysms by detachable coils. Cerebral vasospasm, documented by cerebral angiography and transcranial dopplerography, was recorded for 30,2% of patients. Cerebral vasospasm was developing by active and extensive manipulations in the various segments of the cerebral arteries, as a rule, in case of technical difficulties during the intervention. In all cases, cerebral vasospasm was of asymptomatic nature. Residual neurological deficit occurred in 3,8% of the cases. The reasons for its development, however, were thrombosis and embolism. Further research is required to clarify the clinical significance of cerebral vasospasm.
