The article analyzes the role of the Special Purpose Units of Crimea in stabilizing the domestic political situation in the Crimean Autonomous Socialist Soviet Republic on the basis of the basic principles of objectivity and historicism. Using the systematization of historiography data and using archival materials, the history of the formation of these divisions is studied. Their structure, personnel composition, as well as tasks of activity are analyzed. The evolution of Special Purpose Units, the reasons of their increasing number and the role of the Military Councils of SPUs are studied in detail. In addition, the causes and ideological component of the anti-Bolshevik insurgency are considered, and the ethnopolitical component in its development is assessed. The author concludes that the Special Purpose Units of the Crimean Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic played an important role in stabilizing the domestic political situation in the region, including the interethnic sphere.
