Given that geriatric syndromes are significant causes of mortality, morbidity and increased health care costs, we determined the frequency of geriatric syndromes such as malnutrition, dementia, depression, falls, polypragmasia and urinary incontinence in 770 elderly patients who were hospitalized in the Clinical Hospital of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic and underwent a comprehensive geriatric evaluation. The frequency of polypragmasia was 54.5%, urinary incontinence 47.6%, malnutrition 9.6%, depression 35.1%, dementia 21.6%, and falls 33.6%. When all participants were divided into two groups (60-74, 75-89), all syndromes increased significantly with age except depression. While 20% of cases in the 60-74 age group had two syndromes verified, 48% of cases in the 75-89 age group had more than four syndromes simultaneously. The frequency and overlap of geriatric syndromes, except depression, increased with age.
