Chelyabinsk Polytechnic Institute at the beginning of 50s of the XX century

The article considers the main changes in the institute's work during the 50s of the XX century. The problem of "modernization" of the institution of higher education in the course of the political, social and economic reforms taking place in the country at this period is the centre of the research. The special attention is paid to the formation of new faculties and departments, organization of the scientific work, questions of everyday life of the tutors and students.
