Genghis khan - an envoy of China

The article discusses little-known aspects of the life and work of the greatest politician and military leader of the second millennium-Genghis Khan. His deeds were so large scale and significant that many people endowed his personality with supernatural features. For some of them he is a "winged messenger", for others - a "scourge of God." Many researchers and scientists have noted the antagonism of contradiction between the capabilities of the steppe leaders and the level of knowledge and skills necessary to create a stable super empire. The name of Genghis Khan became sacred in the Turkic-Mongolian cultural sphere and widely known in the rest of the world. However, there are some facts that portray the legendary leader quite real. Compared the sources of different countries that describe the initial stage of the Genghis Khan’s activity, we have revealed that he gained knowledge and experience in public administration while living in China (the Jin Empire). This circumstance is able to explain his competence in the sphere of state administration that is unexpected for a “common steppe-dweller”.
