What hinders the accelerated development of Angara-Yenisei macro-region?

The article considers restrictions for accelerated development of Angara-Yenisei macro- region. In spite of the declared interest of both the government and business in development of the new center of economic growth in Siberia, there are no current preconditions for the formation of a territory with new cooperative and interregional ties such as Angara-Yenisei macro-region can have in the future. The article identifies the following three trends which hinder the development of Angara-Yenisei macro-region: uneven economic development of the incorporated regions; problems of the economic development of each region, that require a speedy solution; asymmetry of social development and the lack of macro-region’s general development strategy. To eliminate the identified restrictions, it is necessary, first of all, to make a decision on formation a common economic area, which will include Krasnoyarsk Krai, the Irkutsk Oblast, the Republic of Khakassia and the Republic of Tyva. The development of the strategy for the socio-economic development of Angara-Yenisei macro-region, which will determine the economic interaction of regions, taking into account their interests, can be considered the beginning of such activity.
