Digital transformation and its role in the African economy: current state and development prospects

The article discusses the introduction of digital transformation and its role in the economies of African countries. The main focus is on analyzing the current state and prospects for the development of the digital economy in the region, as well as assessing the relationship between the process of digital transformation and the level of economic development. The problems of digital economic development in Africa are identified: internal difficulties (lack of digital infrastructure; high costs of digital financial payments; the shortage of personnel with digital skills) and international obstacles (at the international level, the various requirements of leading countries for international cooperation in the field of digital technologies with Africa, as well as fierce competition for digital sovereignty, have also had a great impact on the development of Africa’s digital economy). The article also identifies the prospects for the development of the digital economy in Africa: from a global point of view, the international community is optimistic about the potential of digital economic development in Africa.
