This article considers ways to optimize the production of electric vehicles by digital twin technology. Nowadays, the automotive industry is the leader in the implementation of digital technologies among the sectors of the economy due to high competition. Supported by many governments, electrification of vehicles is prompting car manufacturers to seek solutions for effective transition to electric vehicles production, as well as maximize profit by optimizing resources based on the data generated at each stage of the product life cycle. Recently popular digital twin technology, which is a virtual interactive copy of a real physical object or process, helps to reduce the development, design and testing time of an electric vehicle up to two years. It also helps to reduce the cost of production by reducing the battery size with same long-term reliability and service life, avoid costly mistakes even before putting the vehicle into exploitation. The use of digital twin allows car manufacturers to switch production from any model to conventional, hybrid or electric in a matter of days, adapting to market demand. Furthermore, the capabilities of digital twins include simplifying the study and testing of self-driving cars, which can serve as a catalyst for their mass adoption.
