To create knowledge-intensive products and technologies, an intellectual product developed at a university is needed, which generates and diffuses knowledge and innovations to ensure high competitiveness in the modern market. The specifics of economic relations related to the acquisition of rights to the result of intellectual activity leads to transaction costs, most of which are difficult to account for. Some of them are part of the R&D costs or costs that create the initial value of an intangible asset. Transaction costs are increasing due to the uncertainty and instability of relationships and actions between enterprises and organizations in the intellectual property market, which prevents the involvement of the Russian Federation in world trade in intellectual property rights. In this article, the problems are posed and the directions of research on the optimization of transaction costs in the process of digitalization of the economy and the development of digital platforms are specified. The use of digital platforms in the activities of innovative enterprises operating in the context of global digital transformation contributes to the transparency of actions with the intellectual property of universities. Automated systems reduce the risks of opportunistic behavior and various errors inherent in the influence of the human factor.
