The idea that technology is capable of radically changing the forms of human being has become widespread in philosophical thought. Technical revolutions always lead to the emergence of exalted visionaries, who are enthusiastic about technical innovations, and technophobes, who focus on the risks that technical innovations entail. Martin Heidegger feared that technology would lead to the development of forms of «inauthentic life», such as «idle talk» and «curiosity». Jean Baudrillard believed that digital technology erases the distinction between real and virtual, which can lead to the «disappearance of man». This article is devoted to the analysis of these concepts in the context of digital technologies.
