This article explores the pressing issue of artificial intelligence (AI) integration in documentary filmmaking. The author examines potential risks associated with the widespread adoption of digital technologies in modern documentaries, including the possibility of large-scale historical falsifications. Special attention is paid to the ethical and legal implications of AI use, as well as the need for developing effective mechanisms to ensure content authenticity. It is emphasized that, amid rapid advancements in neural networks and deep learning algorithms, documentary films may lose their status as a reliable source of historical memory. Consequently, the study proposes regulatory measures for AI application in film production aimed at preserving the objectivity and integrity of the documentary genre.
