This article reveals the theoretical background and analyzes the applied aspects of the introduction and use of digital currencies of central banks. Digital currencies have not only become one of the key innovations in financial markets, but also provide a number of benefits for all participants in economic and financial relations. They make it possible to ensure the high efficiency of the state's financial policy, stimulating the transition to non-cash payment methods, competition and innovation in the digital payment markets, contributing to greater transparency of settlements, reducing the shadow sector of the economy, and strengthening control over the use of financial resources. At the same time, it is impossible not to take into account the possible problems and risks associated with the spread of digital currencies. This requires an analysis of the experience of using digital currencies by central banks of other countries, as well as the Russian Federation. Already in the medium term, the task of moving to a more active and widespread use of a new form of money is being actualized. To do this, the regulatory framework, regulatory system, infrastructure must be appropriately modernized and developed, as well as the necessary conditions for the circulation of digital assets must be created.
